Welcome to Great Wishford C.E. (V.A.) Primary School. Situated in the delightful village of Great Wishford, we are one of the oldest working schools in Wiltshire.

As a Church School with a distinctive Christian foundation we aim to create a vibrant and exciting learning environment where children can develop a thirst for learning, be aspirational in the goals they set for themselves and feel safe to challenge themselves.  We coach resilience and perseverance in our pupils to overcome difficulties or new challenges so they are well-prepared for the next stage of their life and able to move into the secondary system.

We strive to instil respect and tolerance with our children to appreciate one another's individual special needs or disabilities.  The school is a calm place which allows pupils to reflect on their daily actions and to feel part of a community built on the core British Values.

Governors gathered on a sunny July evening to wish Ali Jenkins all the best for the future as she prepared to move on after 20 years at Great Wishford CofE VA Primary school, 17 of them as Head Teacher.  She was presented with a watercolour of the village, painted by Jane Rowe, and a framed photo of the school, taken by Chris Lock.  She was also given a card and bouquet of flowers from the Oak Apple Club in recognition of and thanks for the contribution that she and the school has made to Oak Apple Day over the years.  She will be much missed by the Governors and school and we wish her every happiness and fulfilment as she embarks on the next stage of her life.

The Open the Book team has continued to bring characters from both the Old and New Testaments alive by reading and acting out the stories as told in the Lion Storyteller Bible.  The pupils love to participate and we are never short of willing volunteers.  Read more here .....

The whole school gathered with the teachers, parents, grandparents and siblings for harvest thanksgiving in St Giles church, which was filled to capacity.  The service reflected the theme of thankfulness running through the school term.  Each class had something to contribute to the service, including singing, prayers, poetry and a play telling the parable of the sower.  The school can be justly proud of the way the pupils performed so confidently, putting all they had into their parts.  Families had generously donated a large quantity of tins and packets, which were given to the Trussell Trust.  Well done Wishford school!
